We have included a varied number of all the different types of translucency to drag and drop for the highest quality results instantly. Ue4 translucency


Lit translucency gets most of its lighting through a series of cascaded volume textures oriented around the view frustum. This allows lighting to be known in a single forward pass for any point inside the volumes, but has the downside that the volume texture is fairly low resolution, and can only cover a limited depth range from the viewer.

No real reason except that we never really tried to render meshes with a translucent material in UE4. Is there a reason why a Masked material wouldn't work instead of translucency for this effect ? If really that would be a need on your side, we can discuss implementing that in the plugin. In UDK, I was able to get around this problem by forcing the material to sort properly by playing around with the translucency settings in the material editor (I can't remember exactly which boxes I ticked, but it definitely worked). But I cannot seem to find anything in UE4's material editor that does the same thing.

Blend mode on the left mesh is set to "Translucent" while the second mesh is "Opaque". As you can see, enabling translucency changes the look of the object even if the opacity is set to 100%.
